William Reynolds “Bill” Hamilton, 79, of South Bethany, Del., and Melbourne Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at home on Friday, May 17, 2019.
Hamilton was born Oct. 14, 1939, in Washington, D.C., son of the late John Colvin Hamilton and the late Beulah Townshend (Coakley) Hamilton. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a graduate of William & Mary.
Hamilton continued to serve his country, working for the federal government before retiring and moving to South Bethany in the early 1970s. He bought and ran B & R Tackle in South Bethany from 1974 until he sold the business to his son in 2006.
Hamilton loved fishing and hunting. He will be remembered by his family for his strength, his business prowess and being an outstanding father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Hamilton. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jean (Fraizer) Hamilton; three sons, Michael Ryan of Ocean View, Del., William R. Hamilton Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Greg J. Hamilton and his wife, Samantha, of Dagsboro, Del.; four grandchildren, Ryan Michael Hamilton, John Miles Hamilton, Perry Grace Hamilton and Kylie Nicole Hamilton; and two great-granddaughters, Makenna Hamilton and Lila Hamilton.
Services and burial will be private.
