Albert D. ‘Al’ Holliday, 84

Albert D. “Al” Holliday, 84 of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Blackwood, N.J., passed away and entered in God’s eternal rest on May 20, 2019, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Feb. 15, 1935, son of the late Robert Daniel Holliday and Anna May (Baer) Holliday.

Holliday graduated from Camden County Vo. Tech. of Pennsauken, N.J., and worked at Owens Corning Fiberglass in Barrington, N.J., from 1957 until retiring to Delaware in 1990.

He was a lifetime member of Blackwood and Millville (Del.) volunteer fire companies. He loved traveling the country with his family and antiquing. But most of all, he loved his trains and was a member of the Delaware Seaside Railroad Club of Dagsboro. He and his wife, Mary, would always include a train ride whenever they went on vacation.

Holliday will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

In addition to his parents, Holliday was preceded in death by his wife of 61.5 years, Mary Holliday; a daughter, Joanne Ihlenfeld; a grandson, Howard John Magee III; and a brother-in-law, Robert Dera. He is survived by two children, Albert Holliday and his wife, Sharlene, of Langhorne, Pa., and Marianne Magee and her husband, Howard John Jr., of Carneys Point, N.J.; a brother, Eddie Holliday and his wife, Peggy, of Blackwood, N.J.; two sisters-in-law, Emilia Dera of Ocean View, and Vickie Gudaitis and her husband, Jim, of Florissant, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Raymond Mathews and his wife, Crystal, Jeffrey Pinkerton, Joey Lamb, Nicole Lenz and her husband, Todd, Lauren Holliday, Daniel Magee and his wife, Andrea, and Mary Ann Magee; and six great-grandchildren, Raymond, Kalib, Liana, Scarlett, Temperance and Dimitri.

A funeral service with fireman’s honors was to be held May 29, 2019, at Melson Funeral Services in Ocean View, Del., with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro, Del.
