Registration open for Old Timer’s car show, pinup contest

There are some new ways to participate in the Old Timer’s Day festival on Saturday, June 15. Selbyville’s 62nd annual street fair will now feature a ladies’ pin-up contest and an outdoor beer garden.

Registration is still open for the traditional car competition, as well as the pin-up contest and vendors of all kinds.

The overall festival takes place along Church Street in Selbyville from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be live music by the Bo Dickerson band, door prizes, children’s activities, food vendors and more.

Registration is now open for the inaugural Miss Old Timer’s Day Pin Up Contest. Ladies 18or older can dress up in their most iconic 1940s- and 1950s-style “pin-up” outfits and hair. Competition will be from noon to 1:30 p.m., organized by Macey Holyak Photography. A big fan of mid-century couture, photographer Holyak is regularly found at classic car events in her powder-pink 1957 Plymouth Savoy, nicknamed “Patsy.”

Participation in the contest is free. Participants can register beforehand (email maceyholyakphotography@aol.com) or at her car show booth that Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. Contest details are online at www.facebook.com/events/355254428436057.

The first-place winner will be deemed Miss Old Timer’s Day 2019, and one of the gifts she will receive is a free pin-up photography session from Macey Holyak Photography.

“This is not a beauty pageant — it is a pin-up contest to showcase the grace and strength of women from the 1940s-1950s era, including modest vintage fashion, wholesome ideals, inner beauty and poise,” said Holyak. “The competition will be judged by myself and two other area personalities, in the categories of 1940s-1950s fashion, personality, audience participation and a question-and-answer forum.”

She called it “a great way for women to empower each other, meet likeminded individuals and enjoy a family fun-filled event, surrounded by classic cars.”

Registration is also open for the annual classic car show, for cars, trucks, tractors and emergency vehicles from 1988 or earlier. People can register online (http://business.bethany-fenwick.org/events), or at the event from 8 to 10 a.m. The cost $10 per vehicle registration. Judging will be from 10 a.m. to noon, with awards presented at 2 p.m.

Old Timer’s Day is hosted by the Town of Selbyville and the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce. Parking and admission is free for all spectators.

Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are still available by contacting the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce at events@bethany-fenwick.org or (302) 539-2100, ext. 115).

Details are online at http://business.bethany-fenwick.org/events.
