Barbara Ann Jackson Booker, 84, of Seaford, Del., passed away in the care of the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, Del., on June 1, 2019. She was born Oct. 20, 1934, in Frankford, Del., to the late William P. Shockley and Emma Pearl Lewes Shockley.
Booker was a registered nurse who worked at Sussex Correctional Institution, Deer’s Head Hospital and Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, before retiring. She loved plants, working outdoors, fishing and camping, and was a passionate animal-lover. Booker was self-reliant and took care of her own business. She adored her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Booker was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Booker, in 2013; her youngest daughter, Cathy Savage; and a brother, Virgil Shockley. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Baker, and her spouse, Victor, of Gumboro, Del.; her son, Robert Wilkins and his spouse, Terry, of Seaford; her sister, Elizabeth Chandler of Dagsboro, Del.; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat Milo.
A viewing and visitation were scheduled for June 6, 2019, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Del., to be officiated by the Rev. Sally Stewart. Interment was to follow at Prince George’s Chapel Cemetery, Dagsboro, Del. Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com.
