Children & Families First to host a field day for adults

Anyone who has ever wanted to relive the fun of their elementary school field days as a grownup will get that chance when Children & Families First hosts their brand new fundraiser, Adult Field Day on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hudson Fields in Milton.

Teams will compete against one another in classic events such as tug-o-war, obstacle courses and relays, along with mental challenges, games of pure luck and other surprises. Adding to the fun will be music, food trucks, a beer garden for those 21 or older, and a chill zone where spectators can play non-competitive rounds of cornhole, ladder golf and other lawn games in between cheering for their favorite teams.

“The idea was to have a fun, friendly adults-only competition, which we quickly realized would only be so friendly as there are bragging rights and trophies at stake,” stated Jess Bain, Children & Families First board member.

Trophies will go to the first-, second- and third-place teams who acquire the highest number of the points throughout the day. Special prizes will also be given to the team with the best costumes/theme and the highest fundraising team, with the added incentive that teams who fundraise earn bonus points towards their final score.

“As soon as we posted a save-the-date on our social media, the positive energy and excited messages we’ve received let me know this will for sure be epic in so many ways,” stated Laura Rimmer, development lead for Children & Families.

All of the event proceeds will go to support Children & Families First, a Delaware-based non-profit that offers free and immediate access to programs and services proven to prevent child abuse and neglect, intervening and healing those exposed from life-long negative effects on their physical, mental and social well-being.

This year’s event will sell out at 200 participants, so those interested are being strongly encouraged to register quickly. Registration costs $50 per individual team member, and teams can opt to play with four, five or six members each. All teams must pre-register online at www.cffde.org/events before the Aug. 22 deadline, after which point teams are considered final and no substitutions will be allowed.
