One of the community’s longest-running and treasured events returns to Selbyville this weekend, as the 62nd edition of the Old Timer’s Day festival takes place on Saturday, June 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The traditional car competition will continue forth this year, and there will be a few new wrinkles — including a pin-up contest and an outdoor beer garden. There will also be live music, door prizes, children’s activities, food vendors and more, according to organizers.
Macy Holyak Photography is organizing the Miss Old Timer’s Day Pin Up Contest, for ladies 18 or older. Contestants will dress up int heir most iconic 1940s- and 1950s-style “pin-up” outfits and hair. Participation is free, but contestants must register beforehand at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“This is not a beauty pageant — it is a pin-up contest to showcase the grace and strength of women from the 1940s-1950s era, including modest vintage fashion, wholesome ideals, inner beauty and poise,” explained Holyak.
This certainly sounds like a fun-family-friendly addition to an event that has brought families together for fun for more than 60 years.
Old Timer’s Day is hosted by the Town of Selbyville and the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, making it a true community event.
