William Oscar “Bill” Shook, 86, of Ocean View, Del., passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2019, surrounded in the love of his family. He was born March 15, 1933, in Hellertown, Pa., to Oscar E. Shook and Mildred Edelman Shook.
Shook graduated from Hellertown High School in 1951. He was an honorable veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Throughout the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He retired from Ingersoll Rand in 1993. Shook and the love of his life, Hazel Surratt Shook, whom he married in 1956, moved to Ocean View in 1998 to enjoy beach life and spending time with family.
In addition to his parents, Shook was preceded in death by siblings Gerald Shook, Lorraine Magyarics, Kathryn Werkheiser and Shirley Cawley. He survived by. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Hazel; daughters Patricia and her husband, Jack Mack, and Sue Haines of Pennsylvania; son, William M. Shook and his wife, Kathy, of Lewes, Del.; six grandchildren, Jessica Wilson and her husband, Josh, Ashley Zulli and her husband, Jason, Michael Shook and his wife, Clarissa, Lindsey Geyer and her husband, Eddy, George Snyder and his wife, Jennifer, and Kyle Snyder and his wife, Katie; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Zulli, Eli Zulli and Lucy Wilson; and his brothers, Kenneth and his wife, Joan, and Richard and his wife, Barbara.
His family extended gratitude to the Seasons Hospice staff for their compassionate and attentive care.
