Ralph James Giangreco, 69, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Lancaster, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 10, 2019, at his home. He was born in Lancaster on Jan. 18, 1950.
He graduated from Lancaster Catholic High in 1967, went to Steubenville University for one year, then joined the U.S. Navy, from 1968 until 1973. After his discharge, he went to Millersville University for one year and started his career at the United States post office in Lancaster.
He transferred to the Salisbury, Md., post office in 1990; became postmaster of the post office in Snow Hill, Md., for four years; and then served as postmaster for the post office in Dagsboro, Del., until retiring in 2005.
Giangreco was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Giangreco and Gilda (Sabatini) Giangreco, and his father-in-law, Francis Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Fay V. (Sullivan) Giangreco; a son, Brian Caldwell, and two grandsons, Shane and Brandon, all of Ocean View; a brother-in-law, Mike Sullivan and his sons, Ryan and Justin; a sister-in-law, Patty Sullivan and her daughter, Danielle (Sullivan) Nipper and her husband, Keith; and his mother-in-law, Fay Sullivan of Bethany Beach, Del.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the VFW Post 7234, 29265 Marshy Hope Way, Ocean View, Del., of which he was a lifetime member.
