With such a successful first year in the books, the Dagsboro Business Alliance Inc. (DBA) is hoping to build off their efforts as they get ready to host the 2nd Annual Dagsboro National Night Out event on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
In conjunction with the Dagsboro Police Department, as well as the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department, the DBA is inviting the local public to the block party being hosted on the grounds of the Dagsboro fire hall at 28331 Clayton Street from 6 to 8 p.m.
“Last year was our first year doing something like this, and the Dagsboro Business Alliance wasn’t really official yet,” said Audrey Miller, president of the DBA. “We were really blown away by the support and turnout last year.
“We were really looking forward to planning this year’s event right after last year. DBA is official now, and we’ve strengthened our relationships with the community and businesses. We are really excited to make this a really big party every year going forward.”
The free event will once again allow residents an opportunity to come out and meet their neighbors, business community, town leaders, and fire and police personnel.
There will be free food from local businesses, as well as DJ music and entertainment. Also, there will be demonstrations from the police and fire departments. Those in attendance will have an opportunity to win door prizes and giveaways. There will be activities for the whole family, with Eddie the Eagle making an appearance, and several other things taking place that night.
The National Night Out is not just a local event, but rather a nationwide initiative that culminates annually on the first Tuesday in August. Its purpose is to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement, while bringing back a true sense of community. It is celebrated by millions of neighbors across thousands of communities nationwide.
