Gerald William Fryer Jr., 80, of Millsboro, Del., and formerly of Pottstown, Pa., passed away at home on July 6, 2019. He was born on Feb. 17, 1939, to the late Gerald W. Fryer Sr. and Marian LaRue Klink Fryer, in Pottstown. He was an only child.
Fryer married Sandra Lee Hoffman on July 22, 1961, and together they raised three daughters. He spent a career with Philadelphia Electric (which later became Exelon Energy) as a substation mechanic and draftsman. He formerly was active in the BPOE Elks Lodge.
More than anything, Fryer was a family man who loved his family with his whole heart. They were everything to him. He was witty and came up with cute sayings and funny phrases. Fryer enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a very private person. He served on the board of directors of the Indian River Senior Center.
Fryer is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Sandra; three children, Deborah Frederick and her husband, Randall, of Pottstown, Cheryl Wambold and her husband, Robert, of Reading, Pa., and Beth Vitacco and her husband, Joseph, of Millsboro; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Tyler, Michael, Spencer, Elliot, Christopher and Andrew; three great-grandchildren, Adin, Haylie and Dean; and numerous cousins, extended family and many friends.
All services and arrangements were to be private. Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com.
