Jack D. Snyder, 61, of Gumboro, Del., passed away at home, with his family by his side, on Thursday, July 4, 2019. He was born Sept. 17, 1957, in Lewes, Del., to the late Theodore Snyder and Violet Pittman Snyder.
Snyder was a school bus contractor, and also owned and operated a poultry farm with his wife, Kathy. He attended The River Wesleyan Church in Roxana, Del., and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge AF&AM 37 in Dagsboro, Del. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and golfing. He was also an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Snyder was a family man, a loving husband, father, brother and a proud “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren, whom he adored.
In addition to his parents, Snyder was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Snyder, and his mother-in-law, Fay Cooper. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Kathy Cooper Snyder of Gumboro; two children, Stacy Hicks and her husband, Mike, of Millsboro, Del., and Brandon Snyder and his wife, Carrie, of Gumboro; two brothers, Ted Snyder and his wife, Gail, of Georgetown, Del., and Dwayne “Dobie” Snyder and his wife, Vonda, of Gumboro; his father-in-law, Wayne Cooper, and his companion, Sharon Hearn; a sister-in-law, Susan Godwin; a brother-in-law Mark Cooper; five grandchildren, Claire Hicks, Elizabeth Hicks, Jack Hicks, Audrey Snyder and Brody Snyder; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A memorial service was scheduled for July 11, 2019, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Del. Burial was to be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial donations to a charity of the giver’s choice. Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com.
