Ronald Edward Wharton, 82, of Millsboro, Del., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at home, on July 16, 2019. He was born July 28, 1936, at home in Seaford, Del., to the late Margaret Wharton and James Wharton.
Wharton was a 1954 graduate of Laurel (Del.) High School, and a poultry and grain farmer, who also retired as a CW4 after 42 years in the National Guard. He was also a devoted member of Elliott Worship Center, where he served on several boards.
Wharton is survived by his school-bus sweetheart Saralee Pepper, his wife of 64 years; five children, Laura Carmine and her husband, Greg, Scot Wharton and his wife, Tammy, Lisa Conaway, Joel Wharton and his wife, Tina, and Aaron Wharton; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and brothers Trent Wharton and his wife, Jenny, and Jimmy Wharton and his wife, Sally, and a sister, Judy Baker, and her husband, Chip.
