David Emory Groff, 65, of Millsboro, Del., and formerly of Bethesda, Md., passed away at his home with his wife, Sandy, by his side. He was born Sept. 10, 1953, in Bethesda, Md., to the late Emory L. Groff and Twila DeMeio Groff, who survives him.
Groff attended St. Bartholomew Catholic School and St. John’s College High School. He spent his career in construction and had recently retired. His joys in life were running, the Redskins, Maryland basketball and music. He will be remembered as quite the gentleman, with the motto “Because nice matters.”
Groff is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandra Mealy Groff; his sisters, Kathy Groff Aitcheson and her husband, Don, of Ft. Mill, S.C., and Nancie Groff Mackintosh and her husband, Andy, of Adamstown, Md.; a brother, Steve Groff and his wife, Sharon, of Darnestown, Md.; many nieces and nephews; Sandy’s family; and his lifelong friends.
