OTS season winds down
While the days get shorter with the end of summer approaching, the Olde Tymers Softball League is also winding down as they enter the final few weeks of the season.
As of press time on Wednesday, Aug. 14, the two American Legion Post teams were out in front, along with Atlantic Orthopaedics. Post 24 held a slim lead on first place with their 19-7-1 (.722) with Post 28 and Atlantic Orthopaedics right behind at 19-8 (.704).
The final regular-season games are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 20, before the playoffs are set to begin.
More important to some than the remainder of the season may very well be the induction of the OTS inaugural Hall of Fame class at the banquet ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 1 p.m. at American Legion Post 24 in Millsboro.
After 22 seasons of playing softball, the OTS league will be honoring its first class of inductees. The first class includes Gary Meredith, Don “Ducky” Clements, Bob “Bubba” Stack, Harriet Mair, Tom Harvey, Frankie Williams, Roger Howard, Bob Shaeffer and Jimmy Wright.
Tickets are still available for the ceremony and can be purchased at the banquet for $15 per person or $25 per couple. There will be a 50/50 raffle, at $1 per ticket or six tickets for $5. It is a casual-dress event and will include a cash bar for all beverages.
