Charles L. Duvall Jr., 88, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Burtonsville, Md., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at home. He was born in Burtonsville on Dec. 25, 1930, son of the late Charles L. Duvall Sr. and the late Lucy Lee (Groomes) Duvall.
Duvall proudly served his country in the Maryland National Guard.
He also served as the vice president of Chantilly Crushed Stone in Virginia, working for the company for many decades, until he retired in 2002. While only having a 10th-grade education, his engineering knowledge was incredible, and he helped build equipment that was eventually patented by the company. He was also honored and named in the 2000/2001 edition of the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives & Professionals.
Duvall was a member of Line United Methodist Church and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Duvall was preceded in death by his three sisters, Lucille, Edna and Mae. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Jean (Cherry) Duvall; four sons, Michael L. Duvall, Charles David Duvall, Robert Wayne Duvall and Gary Alan Duvall; a stepson, Thomas Cross; a stepdaughter, Susan Inglesby; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019, at Line United Methodist Church, 18725 Line Church Road, Delmar, Del.
