Edna Beatrice Harmon, 90, a lifelong resident of Millsboro, Del., passed away peacefully on Aug. 6, 2019. Her earthly journey began on Dec. 28, 1928.
Harmon attended Harmon School and was employed for many years at Townsend’s poultry plant as a processing inspector, retiring in 1991 after 30 years of service.
She and Charlie Harmon were united in holy matrimony on June 14, 1975, and were together for 34 years, until Charlie passed away in 2009.
She was a dedicated and faithful member of Harmony United Methodist Church, serving as an usher and steward until her illness caused her to quietly pass the torch. She truly enjoyed working in the church’s kitchen, prepping for soup day and Harmony’s famous chicken-and-dumpling dinners. She particularly enjoyed traveling with Pastor Nichols to administer Holy Communion.
Harmon found great enjoyment in traveling to Sight & Sound in Lancaster, Pa., and visiting her daughters in Newark, Del., and Charlotte, N.C. If she wasn’t at home, she was surely at Joe and Marilyn’s, helping with different projects. She was always willing to help in a Godly way.
She was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her smile, hand gesture and gentle presence.
Harmon was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harmon; her parents, Amos and Laurel Hall; her son, Walter Hall Sr. and his wife, Betty Hall; her brother, Everett Hall; and two sisters and their husbands, Radia and Joseph Morris, and Doris and Eldridge Johnson. She is survived by three children, Joseph Howard Hall Sr. and his wife, Marilyn, Pamela Clark and her husband, Daniel, and Sheree McQuate and her husband, Larry; a sister-in-law, Betty Hall; nine grandchildren, Joseph Hall Jr., Jerrin Hall and spouse, Tracy, Jason Hall and his spouse, Kim, Tanya Gibbs and her spouse, Kimwaun, Walter H. “Quietly and peacefully the Lord in his infinite wisdom summoned an everlasting angel to inform his child, Edna Beatrice Harmon, that it was time to mount up like an eagle and fly form the labor to reward.”
