Gene Edward Crone, 79, was taken home by angels on Aug. 15, 2019, after a fatal car crash. He was born Aug. 30, 1939, to the late William Albert Crone and Anna (Hess) Crone.
Crone was born and raised in York, Pa., worked at Cole Steel Factor and retired from BAE Defense Inc. He also handcrafted knives and jewelry, which he sold at local fairs, events and flea markets. He was an avid angler, living and fishing in Florida during the winter and at the Indian River Inlet in Delaware in the summer.
In addition to his parents, Crone was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene (Wentz) Crone Leicth; two sons, Gene E. Crone Jr. and Rick Crone; and as a great-granddaughter, Nora Sharp. He is survived by a daughter, Bambie Crone Jordan and her husband, Ken, of Windsor, Pa.; a sister, Patricia Crone McIlvain of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; eight grandchildren; a nephew; and three nieces.
His ashes will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at a later date.
