Michael A. Volta, 72

Michael A. Volta, 72, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Lansdowne, Pa., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on May 27, 1947, son of the late Michael A. Volta and Michelena (Dippolito) Volta.

Volta proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as an outside machinist for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for 31 years.

He was affectionately known as “High Tech Mike,” as he enjoyed and bought all types of electronical gadgets to keep himself occupied. He was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan and also enjoyed boating and photography. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Volta is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jonette (Pyle) Volta; a brother, Anthony Volta and his wife, Angela, of Philadelphia; a niece, Deanna Tutka and her husband, Edward, of Bellmawr, N.J.;. cousins John and JoAnn Zygmunt of Hamilton Square, N.J., and their two children, John and Jeff Zygmunt; and a goddaughter, Caitlin Iacobacci of Collegeville, Pa.

Visitation starts at 1 p.m., with a prayer service at 2 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, Del. Interment will be private.
