Cripple Creek supports SEAs the Day
On Sept. 14 and 15, 50 members of Cripple Creek Country Club once again teed it up in support of Operation SEAs the Day.
This was the sixth annual 3Man Challenge golf tournament. The tournament’s sole purpose is to raise needed donations for the community initiative. OSTD brings wounded military veterans and their families to the local beach community to have a special week of fun, relaxation and recognition for their sacrifices.
Cripple Creek embraces the charitable foundation’s mission. In addition to the golf tournament, on Saturday, Sept. 7, the club hosted the annual Cripple Creek Classic Car Show to raise money for the charity.
Speaking on behalf of the Golf Tournament Committee, Don Antonucci said, “Cripple Creek is really a special club. When its members get involved with a charitable initiative, they really get involved. Here at the club we have adopted a few charities as our own. The ladies of the club drive an annual fund raising for breast cancer. The club also supports the annual Beebe fund drive to end prostate cancer. And we, along with the Car Show, try to do our best to help Operation Seas the Day.”
There are many other charitable events throughout the year that the club hosts.
This year, the 50 players, along with 10 other non-playing members, raised $19,850 for Operation Seas the Day.
“Think about that,” Antonucci said. “It’s unbelievable how generous this membership is.”
The total donation was presented to members of the OSTD board at the Off the Hook restaurant in Bethany, where the post tournament party was hosted.
Don Summerville, member of the board, in his remarks told the gathering, “Your efforts are very special. The board truly appreciates the effort you make each year. Thanks for helping us deliver our mission. A big thank you to the Cripple Creek community.”
