Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club recently hosted its 2019 Men’s & Ladies’ Club Championship tournaments, and this year’s winners were Patrick Gogarty & Natalie Wisniewski. Gogarty, a senior at Indian River High School, defeated three-time champion Harry Steele in a tough-fought match. The match was close early, with Gogarty starting to pull away in the middle, but Steele quickly bringing it back to just a one-up lead for Gogarty heading into the 17th. In the end, Gogarty won the 17th hole to finish two-up, and claim the overall prize. A mere 60 years in age separates the two male competitors. Wisniewski shot a two-day total of 166 (81-85) to take home the top prize for the ladies. Five-time champion Sue Bennett made a valiant charge on the second day to finish just two shots off the lead at 168 (85-83). Joy Koons took the Overall Low Net prize with a round of 72-66 net, for a two-day total of 138.
