Local church to host international peacemaker from Costa Rica

Ocean View Presbyterian Church will host “A Weekend with Erlinda Quesada, International Peacemaker” on Oct. 5-6. Erlinda Marie Quesada Angulo, a Presbyterian International Peacemaker, and her translator, Dr. Karla Koll, a PC (USA) mission co-worker who is a professor at the Latin American Biblical University in San Jose, Costa Rica, will be visiting the area during the first week of October.

Saturday morning from 9:30 to noon at the church, Angulo will share her story as an environmental activist for clean water and how agrochemicals have affected the water supply of the Caribbean area of Costa Rica. Angulo has been an activist since her early 20s. In 2004, she helped establish the National Front of Sectors impacted by Pineapple Productions, and is the coordinator and community promotor. She has served 20 years on her city council in Costa Rica.

The public is being invited to come to the event on Saturday with questions and to learn how much they have in common. Then, on Sunday morning, Angulo will present her message during the worship service at 9:30 a.m., followed by a reception.

Other locations and entities the pair will visit include Cape Henlopen High School’s “Pathways to Success,” the Sussex Ministerium, Mariner’s Bethel Church for “Just Soup,” the Center for Inland Bays and Made By Hand in South Bethany.
