Ruth Pearl Jones, 88
Ruth Pearl Jones, 88, of Millsboro, Del., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and in the care of VITAS Hospice at her home. She was born on April 24, 1931, to the late John Ennis and Caroline Stoltzfus Ennis in Westover, Md.
Jones was known as one of those wonderful American mothers. She married her beloved husband, Charles Jones, and together they co-owned a farm, where she managed to raise a family, tend farm chores, remain devoted to her family and somehow find time to serve as a nurse for babies and be a distributor for Shaklee products (rising to supervisor).
She attended Shiloh Community Church in Laurel, Del. Her great pride was that she met her husband on the Promenade at Carey’s Camp. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed singing hymns. And she was an excellent homemaker.
In addition to her parents, Jones was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles, in 1983; a daughter, Carol Ann Jones, in 1956; and two brothers, John and Henry Ennis. She is survived by five children, Jean Handy and her husband, Roger, of Millsboro, Allen Jones and her husband, Linda, of Millsboro, Michael Jones and his wife, Daphne, of Millsboro, Janice Ciampo and her husband, William, of Frankford, Del., and Teresa Zeitler of Millsboro; two sisters, Mary Stoltzfus of Buhl, Idaho, and Sarah Criswell of Nottingham, Pa.; and her cherished grandchildren, 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration of life were to be held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Discover Church, 406 South Bedford Street, Georgetown, Del., with the Rev. Curtis Jones officiating. Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com.
