John Christopher ‘Jack’ Goodwin, 92

John Christopher “Jack” Goodwin, 92, a 20-year resident of Rehoboth Beach, Del., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Del. He was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Ridley Township, Pa., to the late William Goodwin and Ethel (Otlinger) Goodwin.

Goodwin attended Ridley Township High School. In 1944, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served aboard the submarine the U.S.S. Remora during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1947.

He was a police officer in Ridley Township for 28 dedicated years and later a school bus driver for the Ridley School District.

Above all, he was a family man who cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Goodwin is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Shirley E. (Taylor) Goodwin; his sons, Christopher Goodwin, Glenn Goodwin and his wife, Susan, and Timothy Goodwin; his five grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; and his brother, Tom Goodwin.
