Myrna Elizabeth Willoughby, 78

Myrna Elizabeth Willoughby, 78, of Millsboro, Del., and formerly of Delaware County, Pa., passed peacefully at home, into the gates of heaven, on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 30, 1941, and resided in Darby, Pa., where she eventually met the love of her life, Robert “Stump” Willoughby. They were married for 38 years and were the perfect example of what true love is.

She was a homemaker who loved her children and adored her 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed time with her family, the shore, fishing and especially the slots. She will most be remembered for being an extremely strong woman.

Willoughby was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Willoughby; mother, Asenath Murphy; sister, Marlene Maiellano; and her grandsons, Jason Sweeney and Cody Hopkins. She is survived by her four children, Sheri Sweeney and her husband, George, Robert Willoughby Jr. and his partner, Dan Slagle, Lori Hopkins and her husband, Bill, and Wendy McVicker and her husband, John; as well as her nieces and nephews.

A celebration-of-life ceremony was to be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, Del., where friends and family may visit after 2 p.m. Interment was to be private.
