Preston E. ‘Prep’ Brasure, 70

Preston E. “Prep” Brasure, 70, of Bridgeville, Del., passed away on Oct. 8, 2019, after a long six-year battle with cancer. He was born March 11, 1949, in Clarksville, Del., son of Edith and Elwood Brasure.

To the end, he did things his own way, with the loving support of his family. As a craftsman, he built homes with his father. Brasure retired from Sussex Correctional Institution after 21 years. He enjoyed hunting, surf-fishing, crabbing, clamming, boating, muzzleloaders, fox hunting and CB radios.

Brasure was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Harvey James. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda V. Brasure; son, Keith Brasure and his wife, Kara, of Dagsboro, Del.; daughters, Kelly Jansen and her husband, Tom Weaver, of Bridgeville, Del., and Cindy Brown and her husband, Patrick, of Milton, Del.; five grandchildren, Zeke Wing and his wife, Krista, Kelsey Jansen, Amanda Brasure, Parker Brown and Mackinzie Brown; two step-grandchildren, Brode Weaver and Matt Cook; three great-grandchildren, Holden Jansen, Eli Wing and Klaira Wing; and his white Lab, Dixie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Nanticoke Cancer Center or to Delaware Hospice. Services were to be private, but a public memorial service will be held at a later date.
