Paula M. Emerick, 54

Paula M. Emerick, 54, of Lewes, Del., formerly of Linwood, Pa., passed away suddenly at the Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019. She was born in Chester, Pa., on July 16, 1965, to the late Jerry Gray and Juanita (Greene) Gray.

Emerick worked in the office for U.S. Airways for 10 years before moving to Delaware, where she was a longtime employee and office manager of First Class Heating & Air in Millsboro, Del., and most recently with Alltemp Air in Lewes, Del., prior to her health starting to decline.

She enjoyed sweepstaking, photography and traveling — especially taking cruises. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, as she loved her kids and grandkids.

Emerick is survived by her husband, Duwayne C. Emerick; three children, Carol Russell and her husband, Damien Russell Sr., of Lewes, William F. Briggs Sr. and his fiancée, Dana Kopp, of Milton, Del., and Ricky Briggs Sr. and his former wife, Laura Briggs, of Newark, Del.; two stepchildren, Kristy Thibault and her husband, Dustin, and Duwayne Emerick and his wife, Yanina, all of Millsboro; 10 grandchildren; her father, William F. Snodgrass of Boothwyn, Pa.; three sisters, Dawn Reynolds and her husband, Clayton, of Lewes, Jeanne Brown of Boothwyn, Pa., and Tabitha Cook and her husband, Todd, of Franklinville, N.C.; a brother, Jerry Gray and his wife, Holly, of Asheboro, N.C.; her two “furbabies,” Sandy and Oreo; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration-of-life service will be held at 2 p.m., with visitation starting at 1 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, Del.
