Fire & Ice adds ‘Out of this World’ drink competition
The Fire & Ice Festival will launch MLK weekend at Bethany Blues, with a drink-tasting competition featuring Dogfish Head Spirits, with proceeds benefiting Nemours duPont Pediatrics & Senior Care, Sussex Campus. The drink competition is taking place at Bethany Blues, Bethany Beach, on Sunday, Jan. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Local bartenders will compete head-to-head to have their drink crowned the Fire & Ice Festival “Out of this World” Drink Competition winner. Drink Competition guidelines require that all drinks will feature one of the following Dogfish Head Spirits: Analog Vodka, Barrell Honey Rum or Compelling Gin.
Bethany Blues will provide food stations for ticket holders. Participants will vote for their favorite drink, alongside a celebrity panel. Bartenders participating are from: Zoca, Good Earth Market, Bethany Blues, The Den at Bear Trap Dunes and the Cottage Café.
Tickets are available through Jan. 15 for $40, with only 200 tickets available, at thequietresorts.com.
“The event is extra-special this year!” said Lauren Weaver, executive director of the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, of the Fire & Ice Festival. “We have now made it a two-weekend event, kicking off MLK weekend at Bethany Blues with our Drink Competition, featuring Dogfish Head Spirits and benefiting Nemours duPont Pediatrics & SeniorCare in Sussex County.”
Those that cannot attend the Drink Competition or want another tasting of the cocktails crafted during the competition can take part in the Fire & Ice Tasting Tour. Patrons can purchase a tasting card that will be honored throughout the entirety of the Fire & Ice Festival, allowing visitors to enjoy a taste of the Fire & Ice drink created by each restaurant.
Tasting card sales are open until Jan. 22, costing $20, with proceeds benefiting to Nemours duPont Pediatrics & SeniorCare, Sussex Campus.
While patrons venture through the Tasting Tour, they can explore the ice sculptures showcased at each restaurant. All participating restaurants will have either an ice bar, an ice luge, ice cocktail glasses or custom ice cubes.
