Registration begins for Selbyville candidates, voters

Selbyville is gearing up for its 2020 town council election. Prospective candidates and voters must register at Selbyville Town Hall by Monday, Feb. 10, at 4:30 p.m.

Anyone wishing to run as a candidate must file a written Notice of Candidacy at town hall by Monday, Feb. 10, at 4:30 p.m. Forms can be obtained on-site.

To be eligible, candidates must: be at least 21 years old; be a U.S. citizen; and have been a bona fide resident of the Town for at least one year prior to March 7.

One-time voter registration is also required for municipal elections at town hall. To be eligible, residents must be at least 18 years old; be a U.S. citizen; and be a bona fide resident of the town.

The election, to fill two town council seats, would be held on Saturday, March 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., assuming more than two candidates file. Both positions carry a two-year term, starting in March. The two seats up for election are currently held by Richard “Rick” Duncan Sr. and Jay Murray.
