Tickets on sale for this weekend’s annual Bull & Oyster Roast
Get ’em while they’re hot! Tickets to the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company’s Annual Bull & Oyster Roast on Feb. 1, that is.
Also, the famous oyster fritters, steamed oysters, fried oyster sandwiches, roast beef sandwiches, hot sausages, hot dogs…
And raw oysters, which of course, are not hot — unless you add some Tabasco. And don’t forget the coleslaw.
All of the above will be prepared on site, at the firehouse, in Frankford, in the days before the event. The bull and oyster roast is one of the fire company’s biggest fundraisers every year, and an army of about 50 dedicated volunteers works to prepare it all, to set up, to break down and clean up.
Food preparation will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 29, according to event chair and Fire Chief Engineer Tommy Bacon, “and continues Thursday and Friday, and all day Saturday.”
Doors for the popular event open at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1. Food will be served from 6 to 10 p.m. In addition to all the food, there will be a beer trailer on site for those 21 or older. Water and soda will also be available.
Bacon said the company will be auctioning and raffling off some choice items, including coolers, guns and a Blackstone grill.
Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door — that is, if there are any left. Fire Company President Robbie Murray said 500 tickets will be sold, and that in past years “we’ve come really close to selling out.”

“Everyone should come out and support the fire company,” Bacon said.
The Frankford Volunteer Fire Company is located at 7 Main Street, Frankford. Tickets for the Annual Bull & Oyster Roast are available at the fire house, from any fire company member, or at the Frankford Town Hall, 9 Main Street, Frankford.
Tickets can also be obtained through the fire company’s Facebook page, Murray said. Updates on auction and raffle items will be posted on the Facebook page.
