State Task Force To Control Workers' Compensation Rates Convened
Governor Jack Markell announced this week that he has asked Lieutenant Governor Matt Denn to head the state's new Workers' Compensation Task Force created by HJR3, established by the General Assembly and Governor to address the 26% increase in average workers compensation rates over the last two years.
DelDOT Crews Clear Away Latest Snowfall
Dover -- Early this morning, several hundred crew members from the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) were out on key roadways putting down salt. This morning's forecast is for up to four inches of accumulation in Kent and Sussex Counties, and a bit less in New Castle County. Snow appears heaviest in the Dover area, but the storm is expected to taper off this morning.

Changes to Bus Boarding Locations along King Street in Wilmington
Wilmington -- With the completion of the first phase of the Rodney Square Beautification project, DART will adjust bus route boarding locations along King Street. Beginning Monday, February 11, 2013, select bus routes will resume serving the King Street side of Rodney Square, and route-specific boarding locations along King Street will be adjusted to better distribute the number of passengers at any given stop. The King Street side of Rodney Square, which has been closed since July 2012, will reopen and be served by Routes 4, 5, 19, 30, 33, 34, 36, 39, 40, 41, 42, 54 and 55.

DNREC Fish & Wildlife Enforcement Officers Rescue Deer That Had Fallen Through Ice
DOVER (Jan. 30, 2013) - DNREC Division of Fish & Wildlife Enforcement officers recently rescued a deer that had fallen through the ice on Milford's Haven Lake. Officers used the bow of a small boat to break ice and get close to the struggling doe, then "herded" the deer through the open water channel they had made back to shore.

New Strain of Norovirus, Gii.4 Sydney Detected In Delaware: Prevention is Best Defense
According to the CDC, this virus strain is currently the leading cause of norovirus outbreaks in the US. The new type was first identified in Australia in 2012. While this type is new to the United States, it is not known to be more virulent then other similar strains of G11.4 identified here.
Local Event Highlights Need for Dental Care for Children from Low-Income Families
On Saturday, February 2, 2013 an estimated 250 children from local low-income families will receive free dental services ranging from screenings to dental restorations as part of the 10th Annual Give Kids A Smile Day held nationwide.
