Millville fire hall to hold poker tournament
The Millville Volunteer Fire Company will be holding a Texas Holdem Poker Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 23, at its firehouse on Route 26. Entry fee is $100, with two $25 re-buys available.
Doors open at 6 p.m.
Dealing begins at 7 p.m. You must be 21 or older to attend. Up to $80,00 in prize money paid out depending on player participation.

One step closer to offshore wind power

South Bethany adopts ambulance fee structure
At their council meeting on Friday, June 13, the South Bethany Town Council passed a resolution (Resolution 1-08) establishing the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance Service fee for South Bethany property owners.
The resolution states that the fee will be assessed on each home, as well as to the owners of vacant lots in the town.

The Delaware State Police and Department of Transportation reopened Route 1 between Dewey Beach and Fred Hudson Road/Road 360 north of Bethany Beach and the Indian River Inlet Bridge late Tuesday afternoon, following a detailed inspection of the inlet and surrounding roadways. Remaining closed Tuesday, due to high water, were: Fred Hudson Road in the area of Route 1 and Old Mill Road in Millville, as well as several other roads in the Lewes, Slaughter Beach and Oak Orchard areas.

South Bethany adopts 'bare-bones budget'
As concerns about municipal revenues continue to peak over a sluggish real estate market and proposed House Bill 111, South Bethany officials adopted on April 13 what Councilwoman Bonnie Lambertson called “a bare-bones budget.”
“The good news is we’re not raising taxes,” said Mayor Gary Jayne. “The bad news is we’re not raising taxes right away,” he added wryly.
