Harry David Wright, 58

Harry David Wright, 58, of Delmar passed away on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007.

He was a member of the American Legion, Post #28. He loved to play pool and work on cars.

Elmo W. Morse, 56

Elmo W. Morse, 56, passed away at home on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007.

His mother, Rosa A. Morse of Selbyville, a son and daughter; two sisters and three grandchildren survive him.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville. Interment was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro.

William B. Winterberg, 82

William B. Winterberg, 82, of Lewes, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

Born in Ludlow, Ky., Winterberg was retired from the United States Marine Corps.

He is survive by his wife, Vivian (Lowe) Winterberg; eight daughters, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Larry ‘Gat’ Mims, 53

Larry “Gat” Mims, 53, formerly of Clanton, Ala., and Bear, Del., passed away peacefully, Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at home, after battling cancer.

Mims worked as a lumberjack from a young age, loving the outdoors and a good, hard, honest-day’s work with his partner and son-in-law, Mike Payes. He was happiest when spending time with his family and planting his garden.

Rada L. Bradford, 79, of Willards, Md., died Jan. 17, 2007, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury, Md.

She had been a seamstress for Wilkins Fashions for many years.

She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Willards and a member of Nassawango Country Club.

William H. Pippel Jr., 83, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md.

He was a member of St. Matthew’s by the Sea United Methodist Church, Fenwick Island, and a member of Al-Anon. He was a former member of the Lions Club and the Elks Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Kathryn E. Knauer Hostetter, 65, of East Earl, Pa., formerly of Laurel, and Kinzers, died Jan. 2, 2007, in Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, Pa., after a three-year struggle with Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Born in Caernarvon Township, she was a daughter of the late Abram W. and Marian A. (Yohn) Martin.

Donald D. Swartley, 40

Donald D. Swartley, 40, of Georgetown, Del., died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006.

Swartley moved here in 1989 from Allentown, Pa. He was a construction worker for Carey’s Construction. He attended the Dagsboro Church of God. He loved to hunt and was a hard worker. He loved all of his children and was devoted to his family.

Wenceslao Soto, 81 of Frankford, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006.

He was born in Manuel Poblado, Mexico, and was a self-employed produce salesman.

William David Trosky, 44, of Ocean City, Md., passed away on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006.

He was born in Cheverly, Md., and was an assistant hotel manager in Ocean City.

Maxine W. Yowler, 90, of Dagsboro died on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006.

Her family said they would like to thank Maxine’s friends and neighbors in Blackwater Village for their kindness and prayers.

James P. Murray, Jr., 78, of North Bethany Beach passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006.

Joseph William Wagner, 87

Joseph William Wagner, 87, of Dagsboro died on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006. He was a retired lineman/switchman who worked for the Diamond State Telephone Company, retiring in 1984. He was educated as an electrician, and trained at Bliss Electrical College in Silver Spring, Md. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic during World War II in North Africa and Europe.

Nell Joyce King, 84

Nell Joyce King, 84, of Lewes and Ocean City, Md., died peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes.

King was born in Toccoa, Ga., to the late John L. Phillips and Maude Cook Phillips. She was a longtime business owner in Ocean City, as well as an avid golfer and gardener. King moved to Lewes in 1998, where she resided with her sister, Jewell McQuay.

Bruce E. Brosnahan, 48, of Dagsboro, passed away suddenly, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

He was born in Wilmington on May 30, 1958, son of the late Cornelius Brosnahan and Elizabeth (Bamberger) Brosnahan Hartman.

Alexa Nevaeh Sterner, newborn daughter of David Sterner and Tracey Sinnott, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

Dominic A. DiGuiseppe, 78

Dominic A. DiGuiseppe, 78, of Selbyville, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at home. He was a firefighter for the city of Washington, D.C., for 26 years.

He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach. He was a member of the Ocean City Elks and the Ocean View VFW. He was also a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Phyllis Edna Harnsberger, 82

Phyllis Edna Harnsberger, 82, of Millsboro, formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Green Valley Terrace Nursing Home in Millsboro. Harnsberger was born on March 9, 1924, in Frederick, Md., to the late Harvey Russel and Mary Louise (Davis) Louden. She was a custodian for 1st National Bank in Baltimore before her retirement.

Hannah Nicklas Mowen, 67

Hannah Nicklas Mowen, 67, of Millsboro, died Dec. 15, 2006, at home. She was a self-employed market researcher. She enjoyed cooking, ceramics, reading and her grandchildren.

She and her husband moved to the area in 1981.

Joshua Mordecai Freeman, 42

Joshua Mordecai Freeman, 42, died on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, in a helicopter crash near Dagsboro, Del. Freeman, the son of developer Carl M. and Virginia Freeman, grew up at the family home, Tusculum Farm, in Gaithersburg, Md. He was a graduate of the Landon School in Bethesda, Md., and served for three years as a Green Beret in the United States Army Special Forces.

John Wayne Riddle, 68, of Frankford, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, surrounded by his loving family.

Becky L. Murray, 50

Becky L. Murray, 50, of Gumboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at home. She was co-owner, along with her husband, of Murray’s Motors Salvage Yard, operating several locations in Sussex County.

She attended Bethel and Gumboro United Methodist churches. She loved craftwork and shopping with her sisters, was a very hard worker and was dedicated to her family.
