BREAKING NEWS: Events canceled ahead of impending storm (UPDATED)
Local schools closed through Tuesday

Both the Indian River School District and Sussex Technical School District have closed schools and offices on Monday, Oct. 29, and Tuesday, Oct. 31.
All University of Delaware classes are suspended Monday, Oct. 29, and officials were strongly encouraging students to go home.
Delaware Tech has canceled classes on Monday, Oct. 29.
The Delmarva Christian High School Annual Student Scholarship Banquet scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 30, was rescheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13, also at 6 p.m. The evening event will include guest speaker Michael Reagan, eldest son of former President Ronald Reagan, a catered dinner by the Big Fish Grill, and a silent auction. DCHS is honoring reservations and applying them to the new Nov. 13 date. Guests not able to attend the Nov. 13 Scholarship Banquet should contact DCHS by calling (302) 856-4040.
Delaware State Park campgrounds were to close at noon on Sunday. All state parks will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Parks officials noted that the effects of Hurricane Sandy were predicted to arrive in Delaware on Sunday afternoon, with high water and windy conditions associated. Those wishing to cancel or change camping reservations should call 1-877-987-2757. All normal cancellation fees apply.
Cape May-Lewes Ferry officials announced Saturday morning that the ferry service would suspend operations following the last scheduled departures that evening. The ferry will be closed through Tuesday, they said.
