Conrad D. “Biff, “Connie” or “Bear” Bittenbender Jr., 82, of Selbyville, Del., died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at home. He was born in Baltimore, Md., son of the late Conrad D. Bittenbender Sr. and Ann Rita (Taylor) Keating, and stepson to Earl Keating and to June Bittenbender.

Bittenbender retired from work as a lineman supervisor with BG&E in Baltimore and was a member of the Ocean City (Md.) Elks, Roxana (Del.) Moose Lodge, American Legion and the VFW. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Bittenbender was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Bittenbender, in July 2017. He is survived by his stepchildren, Bill Smith Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Crisfield, Md., Cindy Brunt and her husband, Gary, of Severna Park, Md., Rick Smith and his wife, Rosalie Parker, of Lusby, Md., and Kimberly VanPelt and her husband, Richard, of Canyon Lake, Texas; a sister, Dorothy Frick of Spartanburg, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was scheduled for Oct. 2, 2017, at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, Del., with the Rev. Dr. James Van Der Wall officiating. Burial was to be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro, Del.
