Edith G. Baker, 79, of Selbyville, Del., passed away in the care of Peninsula Regional Medical Center on Dec. 21, 2017. She was born in Goldsboro, N.C., to the late John Thomas Goff and Gladys Vail Goff.

Baker married Ralph Baker, and together they raised a large family. She attended Wor-Wic Community College later in life, to become a certified nursing assistant, and worked in health care. She was a member of Snow Hill (Md.) U.M. Church, Elks Lodge 2173 and Dagsboro American Legion Post 24.

She loved bingo, cards and watching her soap opera stories, and she was wonderful in telling her own stories from her life. Baker loved kids and, in addition to her own children, she “adopted” many as her own. She was devoted to her family and adored her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; a sister, Elizabeth Jenkins; and a granddaughter, Nichole Baker. She is survived by her children, Vincent Baker of Selbyville, Thomas Baker and his wife, Linda, also of Selbyville, Keith Baker and his wife, Cindi, of Roxana, Del., Janell Baker of Selbyville and Deborah Whaley, also of Selbyville; her siblings, Britton Goff and his wife, Theresa, of Snow Hill, Md., Jackie Pate and her husband, Denny, of Pikeville, N.C., Lanell Morene of Goldsboro, N.C., and Annette LaVie of Roxana; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and her special friends, Madelyn England, Jeannette Hipkins and Toni Palmes.

A funeral service was scheduled for Dec. 28, 2017, at Watson Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Dennis Bradford, with interment at Carey’s Cemetery, all in Millsboro, Del.
