Energy Gym adds to workout convenience with childcare

In keeping with their “No Excuses” motto, Energy Gym on Route 54 will start offering child care to their members and visitors in the coming weeks.

“We are trying to give it more of a community-base element,” owner Gina Hall explained. “With more and more families moving here, it is a service that is almost necessary.”

Energy Gym childcare will be available Mondays through Fridays from 7:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. On Saturdays, they will also have morning hours, from 7:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Prices for members will be $10 per month for unlimited childcare, with a maximum of two hours per day. For non-members or drop-ins, there will be a daily charge of $5 or a punch pass of 10 will be available for $45.

“Parents have to be on the premises [working out],” explained Hall. “But the childcare center is not attached to the gym — it will be a couple of doors down, so baby won’t be able to see mom on the treadmill and not be able to get to her. Sometimes, it can make children uneasy if they can see mom on the equipment, but can’t be with her.”

She said parents will be able to track the children and see them on their phones, so they can have an added sense of security, as well.

The center will take children up to age 10. For older kids who have to come with mom or dad, she explained, they do have kids’ fitness classes.

She said the timing should be perfect, because many people have getting to the gym as a new year’s resolution, and this can be one more step to help them make it a reality. Hall said they hope to open the childcare center at the end of October, so by the time new members start to bring in the new year, the center should be in full swing.

She added that the children will have structured activities, so the center will be educational and fun.
