Holistic Health Fair returning to Cape Henlopen next March

The Holistic Health Fair will return to the Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents and visitors alike are invited to come and discover local resources that support and enhance health and vitality, and green infrastructure at the 18th annual Holistic Health Fair.

Hosted by the Delmarva Community Wellnet Foundation, the fair offers recession-friendly vendor opportunities and free admission. As the Delmarva resort region’s premier healthy living event, the Holistic Health Fair provides an annual opportunity to learn about new and existing natural health products, integrative healing services and environmental and sustainable living practices and products available in the Delmarva region.

In addition, fundraising during the event will support the goals of Delmarva Community Wellnet Foundation, a grassroots community service organization that is dedicated to economic and practical solutions for sustainable living.

The fair will feature guest speakers, educational workshops, exhibits and demonstrations in addition to holistic, “green” or natural retail vendors and service practitioners at booths throughout the venue. Past fairs have included massage and bodywork, body-mind therapies, renewable energy providers, martial arts, yoga and meditation, aromatherapy, skin care, and other natural and organic health products, services, and supplements A children’s area will engage even the youngest of fair visitors.

The Holistic Health Fair’s 2012 Keynote Speaker is naturopathic doctor Pina LoGiudice, N.D., L.Ac. Hailed as a “world expert” by Dr. Mehmet Oz on the Dr. Oz Show, Dr. LoGiudice is truly a well-recognized expert in the field of natural medicine, said fair organizers. Her keynote lecture, which will be held at 1 p.m., will describe the benefits and uses of Superfoods in the diet.

Dr. LoGiudice graduated from Bastyr University, the leading accredited university for science-based natural medicine. Dr. LoGiudice is a member of the Holistic Moms Association, Holistic Pediatric Association, American Association for Naturopathic Physicians and is a Diplomat in Acupuncture.

She is a past board member, secretary and Vice-President of the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Dr. LoGiudice is a co-author in the third edition of the Textbook of Natural Medicine and recently authored an original chapter on Pregnancy and Primary Prevention for the upcoming fourth edition of the Textbook, where she teaches other physicians how to prevent disease by modifying the prenatal environment through natural means.

She is on the adjunctive faculty staff at the Natural Gourmet Institute for Food and Health in Manhattan and has taught at New York University. She has recently been published in the Journal of Complementary and Integrative Medicine, writing about the benefits of garlic for children’s health. She has lectured nationally at the Integrative Health Symposium (formerly CAM Expo) in both New York City and Los Angeles.

Considered a natural medicine expert, Dr. LoGiudice has been asked to appear on national TV (FOX), where she instructed Dr. Mehmet Oz the benefits of herbal antibiotics on the Dr. Oz Show. She has been interviewed on the Hallmark Channel, as well as been called upon as an expert on local television stations and national web media.

At 11 a.m. there will be a REPLENISH Round Table Discussion. REPLENISH is a demonstration project of EDEN Delmarva, and promotes the recovery of organic materials from Rehoboth Beach area restaurants for the creation of compost and soil additives that help serve local farmers with their crops. At 3 p.m., Dr. Peter Bongiorno, N.D., L.A.c, author of Healing Depression, will speak on “Healing Depression and Anxiety Naturally.”

As interest and usage of holistic approaches to health and sustainable living become more commonplace, the fair offers an affordable, well-located venue for holistic health practitioners, natural products retailers, growers or producers of natural and organic products, renewable energy vendors and services to market themselves or their products. Vendors may enter the fair for as little as $95 per booth for early bird registration, far less than most entrance fees at comparable events. Those interested in volunteering their time and talent during the organizational period or the day of the event are welcomed.

Holistic health practitioners, natural products retailers, growers or producers of natural/organic products, or businesses that sell and/or install renewable products and services are encouraged to participate in the fair. Registration to be an exhibitor/vendor has begun.

Registration forms are available online at www.thewellnet.org/fair.html. For more information, please contact Jaime at Midway Chiropractic at (302) 645-6681 or HHF@edendelmarva.org.
