It’s the Great Pumpkin, Millville!

The fourth annual Great Pumpkin Festival in Millville is fast approaching — it will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company’s fire hall.

The festival, complete with games for both younger and older children, will feature the Overtime Band, as well as a petting zoo, pony rides, a moon bounce, a rock climbing wall, free trick-or-treat bags and games with all sorts of prizes.

Town Manager Debbie Botchie said that, new this year, they have hired the Black Pearl, a mini-school bus that usually caters to the bar and restaurant crowd, to help shuttle to the festival people who need to park their cars at one of several remote parking areas: Lord Baltimore Elementary School, the town hall parking lot or Millville United Methodist Church’s parking lot.

The Millville Volunteer Fire Company will be selling fried chicken dinners, but most of the activities and games at the festival are free or close to it, explained Botchie.

There will be pumpkin decorating, and there will be pumpkin ice cream available for sale.

“It’s great for parents with young kids. It’s just a fun-filled day with little cost,” she said.

In addition to the entertainment and activities, area businesses will attend with information tables and several of the Millville Farmers’ Market vendors will be on hand, complete with fall veggies and plants.
