Joseph William Dyer, 49
Joseph William Dyer, 49, of Laurel, Del., passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Greenwood Country Rest Center.
Born Sept. 6, 1962, in Wilmington, Dyer was the son of the late Herman Francis and Josephine B. (Fernandez) Dyer. He worked for many years as a plumber and loved fishing, painting and art. Dyer was remembered as a loving family man who was devoted to his family, especially his children, and who knew how to stand his ground.
Dyer was preceded in death by his brother Francis Herman Dyer in 2003, and recently by his beloved canine friend Treasure. Dyer is survived by his two children, Adrian Acri and her husband, Christopher, of Selbyville, Del., and Shannon Dyer of Richfield, N.Y.; three sisters, Barbara Ann Blaquaire and her husband, Michael, of Palm Bay, Fla., Mary Ann Blumm and her husband, Anthony, of Newark, and Betty Tucker and her husband, Steven, of Severn, Md.; a brother, Herman F. Dyer of Laurel; one granddaughter, Makayla Acri; several nieces, nephews, cousins; extended family members and friends; and his beloved canine friend Riley.
Arrangements and interment were to be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice; 100 Patriots Way; Milford, DE 19963.
