La Vita Bella brings Italian tranquility to Delaware's beaches
In Italy, the term “la vita é bella” is a familiar phrase, translating to “the beautiful life” in English. And right here in Sussex County, Lois Saraceni and her staff at La Vita Bella Day Spa are attempting to invoke that same vibe, providing customers with a one-of-a-kind experience with numerous services available. This winter, the Ocean View day-spa opened its doors, and with warm weather and plenty of events in the approaching months, they hope to keep the customers coming back.
“Our motto here is ‘Let us help you experience the beautiful life,’” said Saraceni, “and that’s exactly what we try to do. There are plenty of places that can offer spa treatments, but we help our clients really feel that tranquility and serenity each time they come in.”
La Vita Bella features a full lineup of services that includes facial treatments, such as microdermabrasion, pharmaceutical peels and deep exfoliation; massage treatments that run the gamut to include specialties in sports, therapeutic and prenatal care, among others; and body treatments including mud wraps and seaweed body wraps, as well as nail care, waxing, spray tanning and ear candling.
“Since we started,” Saraceni noted, “the reception’s been really good. We offer some retail, including jewelry, handbags and other items,” she added.
La Vita Bella uses Sormé Cosmetics, known for their use by Hollywood film studios and celebrities, and features the Dermalogica skin-care system, used by more than 75,000 skin therapists in more than 80 countries around the world.
“Clients come in for a mix of everything,” added Saraceni. “One thing that we can do here for folks that come in is accommodate groups. We have a guest retreat room, where you can wait, enjoy food, beverages and wine, or just relax with coffee or tea.”
Inside the facility, clients may find that their initial impressions were quite deceiving. Seven rooms span the interior of La Vita Bella.
“We have one room for nails,” said Saraceni, “two for facials and other body treatments, and four massage rooms, which can also be used for other purposes if needed, as well.” One massage room even accommodates couples.
Saraceni has worked not only to make her day-spa a successful business, but she has even integrated it into local events.
“We had massage therapists out during the Bethany Beach BunnyPalooza and Hair of the Dog runs,” she noted. Massage therapists were even on-hand during last weekend’s paper-shredding event at Banks Wines & Spirits. “We’re trying to get involved in the community as much as we can,” she said.
La Vita Bella currently employs seven specialists, though Saraceni said she expects to increase that number as the summer season approaches.
“We have a very friendly staff here,” she said, “and everyone is very knowledgeable. When I started the business, I not only wanted to create a job for myself, but I wanted to provide that opportunity for others, too.”
To counter the limited nail-technician opportunities for aspiring specialists, Saraceni’s day-spa also provides training through a “pay-it-forward” program, for those trying to earn an apprenticeship.
While she recommends a treatment or service for whatever the occasion, Saraceni noted that La Vita Bella is great for gifts, too, especially with Mother’s Day right around the corner.
La Vita Bella Day Spa is open Monday through Saturday, with varying hours, and its doors will stay open later beginning in mid-May. On occasion, appointments can be made for Sundays and weekday evenings.
La Vita Bella Day Spa is located at 96 Atlantic Avenue, Suite 101 in Ocean View, across from Circle K BBQ.
