Martin ‘Marty’ J. Oswald, 87

Martin “Marty” J. Oswald, 87, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Lansdowne, Pa., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del.

Born June 30, 1924, in Philadelphia, Pa., Oswald was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired as a carpenter with the Local #8 Union in Philadelphia in 1987. Oswald was a lifetime member of the Mason Dixon VFW 7234 in Ocean View and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, Del.

Oswald was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary (Gormley) Oswald. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Maureen Oswald; two brothers, James and Francis Oswald; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for March 7, 2012, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, Del., with arrangements by Melson Funeral Services in Ocean View, Del. Interment was to be held at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Del. The family said they would appreciate memorial donations made to Delaware Hospice Center; 100 Patriots Way; Milford, DE 19963.
