Night of Magic to benefit BBVFC
If you’re looking for a fun family night out that will also help support the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company, consider a family night of magic at Dickens Parlour Theatre.
On May 18, the Bethany Beach Fire Company will be hosting a fundraiser at the magic theater to raise money for the company’s general fund.
“It came about because the Town of Bethany Beach had a night coming from the theater, and they so generously gave that evening to the fire company as a fundraising activity,” said Steve Lett, chairman of fundraising for BBVFC.
“We have every seat, the whole theater – 60 tickets to sell – and we’ve sold almost all of those tickets,” he noted late last week. “We have a few left, but not very many.”
The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on May 18, with a showtime of 7 p.m. Tickets cost $30 per person, and attendees will get more than just a little bit of magic.
“Mr. Rich Bloch is actually going to do the show himself, which is a real treat to get him,” said Lett. “After the show, then there is going to be a wine-and-cheese reception as part of the ticket price.”
Lett said that 100 percent of the tickets sales will go to the fire company, which fundraises all year in order to support the company’s operating costs.
“As a not-for-profit corporation, we’re challenged every year to raise money to fund the fire company, because it costs a lot of money to operate,” he said. “We raise money every year through donations from citizens and people that live in the community, and we also have a lot of fundraising activities.”
He noted that the night of magic is for adults and children alike, and that he hopes the community will support the fire company and enjoy a magical night of family fun.
“It’s for adults and children,” he emphasized. “We’ve sold a lot tickets to families who are bringing their children,” he said. “We certainly hope that it will be a sell-out. And we just hope that everybody will have a night of fun. It should be a really fun evening for the entire family.”
