Norma Violet Olson, 93
Norma Violet Olson, 93, of Ocean View, Del., passed away Nov. 22, 2011, at Calbert Nursing Home in southern Maryland.
Born in Duluth, Minn., Olson had also lived in Chicago, Ill. And the Washington, D.C., area, before moving to the Eastern Shore. Olson was a member of Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church, active in the Dorcas Circle and Atlantic Community Thrift Shop (ACTS), and affectionately known as the “Christmas Lady” for selling many Christmas treasures. The Lord Baltimore Lions Club could often count on her rice pudding for fund-raising dinners.
Olson was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Herman Olson. She is survived by three children, Donald Olson of Colombia, Md., Dorothy Oberg of Dunkirk, Md., and Margaret Olson of Ocean View; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetary, 26669 Patriots Way in Millsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Mariner’s Bethel
