Omar Road improvement project to continue through next week
Roads east of Frankford are getting a facelift for autumn as roadwork continues on Omar Road.
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) began the road by removing strips of pavement from the edges of both lanes in the 4.8-mile stretch of road between Honolulu Road and Powell Farm Road.
Resurfacing of the road began Aug. 13 and could continue Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., until the end of August. Intermittent lane closures will occur. Drivers are being reminded to obey traffic signs and workers.
“We appreciate the public’s patience. By the end of the month they’ll be rewarded with a new road,” said Jim Westhoff, DelDOT community relations officer.
The public will not see any major changes to the road shape or traffic pattern, but the drive will be smoother in this “pave and rehab” project, Westhoff said.
