Robert Claiborne Case Sr., 88

Robert Claiborne Case Sr., 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the home of his daughter, Ann Claiborne Case, in Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Case graduated from Towson High School in Towson, Md. He attended the University of Maryland, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity and the lacrosse and football teams. He and his brother George were lifeguards for Rehoboth Beach Patrol from 1942 to 1943. Case served in World War II’s Pacific Theatre in the Navy Air Corps. After the war, he was a flour broker for 20 years and owned a retail business for another 24 years.

In addition to his daughter Ann, Case is also survived by his daughter Ramsay Case Kieffer of Milford, Del.; his son, Robert Claiborne Case Jr. and his wife, Debe Roisen, of Salem, Ore.; his grandson, J. Kirk Kieffer and his wife, Laurie, of DeBary, Fla.; granddaughter, Casey Ann Kieffer of Milford; and great-grandsons, Cole and Boyd Kieffer of DeBary, Fla.

The family expressed their heartfelt thanks to home health aides Linda Allen Ray and Wilma Elliott for the compassionate care of Mr. Case during this past year, and also to Delaware Hospice for their support in the past five months.

Graveside services were to be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium in Lewes, Del., through which condolences may be sent online at www.parsellfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to the charity of the giver’s choice.
