Roy Joseph Thomas Sr., 62

Roy Joseph Thomas Sr., 62, of Rehoboth Beach, Del., passed away at home on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.

Thomas was born May 14, 1949, in Oxford, Pa., to Robert Harold and Betty (Chamberlain) Thomas. He graduated from Oxford High School and then served in the United States Army in the Vietnam era. He worked at Chrysler Corporation in Newark, Del., and in landscaping. Thomas then started his own business, Thomas Lawn Service.

In addition to his father, Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, David Thomas Sr., on Dec. 17, 2011. He is survived by his mother, Betty Thomas-Patterson, and her husband, Henry Patterson, of Rehoboth Beach; his companion, Karen Coble of Southington, Ohio; a daughter, Jody Bluedina Thomas-Milburn of Lewes, Del.; a son, Roy Joseph Thomas Jr. of Elkton, Md.; a brother, Robert Thomas Sr., and his companion, Phyllis Fox, of Elkton; and three grandchildren, Erik Thomas and Zoe Bluedina Milburn of Elkton and Vahan Vikoarian of Lewes.

A private committal service was to be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Del., with arrangements by Melson Funeral Services of Millsboro, Del. Condolences may be sent online at www.melsonfuneralservices.com.
