Selbyville tour to feature holiday greenery, traditions
The Women of Faith of Salem United Methodist Church will be hosting their second Christmas Greenery Tour on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets cost $20, and a lunch of soups, sandwiches and beverages will be available at an additional cost of $6 from noon to 2 p.m. at the church.
“It’s a really lovely, lovely tour,” said Women of Faith House Tour Chair Katherine Cropper.
Cropper said the tour features 11 properties, and one will be Salem United Methodist Church on Church Street. The parsonage, or pastor’s house, across the street will be another one of the properties.
Tickets will be available on the morning of the tour and will include brochures with directions and information about each of the highlighted families’ Christmas and holiday traditions.
“I talked with them all to produce the brochure about their family’s traditions,” said Cropper, sharing that one family is from England, so their English traditions will be highlighted.
Cropper said the full tour includes both older and newer homes in the town – all in an effort to really highlight the small-town holiday feel that Selbyville still offers.
All of the proceeds from the tour will benefit local missions. Salem United Methodist Church hosts a local food pantry in the church, which serves 125 families each month, and also supports a heat fund that helps the elderly in the area.
