WEATHER ALERT (UPDATED): Bevy of Sussex roads closed due to high water, storm damage
The Delaware Department of Transportation has issued an extensive list of road closures in Sussex County due to this week's storm. The list was updated on Sunday, Nov. 15.
The closed roadways include: Old Mill Road in Millville, Holts Landing Road, Gum Tree Road near Dagsboro, Route 20 at Shortly Road and the Vines Creek bridge, which has been clear at some low tides but repeatedly closed as waters in the creek rise again. There are also continuing closures for Fred Hudson Road near Bethany Beach and Route 1 in the area of the Indian River Bridge.
Back-bay flooding continues to be an issue impeding access for property owners on or near canals in Fenwick Island, South Bethany, Bethany Beach and neighboring communities. Some neighborhood roads are impassable in these areas, and they do not appear on DelDOT's list of closed roads.
