Ormil ‘Doc’ Savage Sr., 82
Ormil “Doc” Savage Sr., 82, of Ocean View, Del., passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at his home. While serving with the United States Marine Corps during World War II, he was wounded at Guadalcanal and was a Purple Heart recipient. He attended the Bay Shore Community Church in Gumboro, Del.
Savage was preceded in death by his parents, A. Frank and Gretchen (Wainwright) Savage; and his wife, Irene Savage. He is survived by two daughters, Connie Lathbury and her husband, Chip, of Dagsboro, Del. and Wanda Weber and her husband, Wayne, of Frankford, Del.; a son, Ormil Savage Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Ocean View; five grandchildren, Jonah Lathbury of Dagsboro, Stacie Mills of Ocean View, Leah Clark of Frankford, Andrew Weber of Frankford and Ryan Savage of Bishopville, Md.; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Irma Timmons, Viola Clark and Myrtle Hitchens.
Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2008, with interment in St. George’s Cemetery, Clarksville, Del.
Helen Davis Weldie, 89
Helen Davis Weldie, 89, of Long Neck, Del., formerly of Wilmington, Del., passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes. She was a graduate of Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Md., and played on their basketball team. She was an elementary school teacher in the Wilmington area for 39 years. She was a member of the East Gate Presbyterian Church in Long Neck and an avid sports fan.
Weldie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Asa Davis. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Calvin Weldie; three nephews, Bill Craig, David Low and John Low; two nieces, Ann Llewelyn and Pat Kesmodel; and a brother, Julian Davis.
Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2008, with interment in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to East Gate Presbyterian Church, 34806 Church Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966.
Thomas James Wright, 76
Thomas James Wright, 76, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008, in Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Del. He was a tow truck driver for Ruxton Towing for many years. He loved camping, crabbing and model-building.
Wright was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Matilda Schalitzky Wright. He is survived by a son, Thomas Gary Wright of Millsboro; two daughters, Debra Johnson of Lago Vista, Texas, and Vicky Jeeter of Leander, Texas; two brothers, Ronald Wright of Baltimore, Md. and George Wright of Hollywood, Fla.; one sister, Sue Van Blargan of Baltimore, Md.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at the Evans Funeral Chapel, 8800 Harford Road, Parkville, MD 21234. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
Walter H. Bunting, 86
Walter H. Bunting, 86, of Bishopville, Md., passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. He was a farmer, and owned and operated Bunting & Bertrand in Frankford, Del., for 38 years. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Bishopville and was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Bunting was preceded in death by his daughter, Lana Rae Bunting. He is survived by his wife, Eva N. Bunting; and a half-sister, Vera Hoffman of Philadelphia, Pa.

Ronald G. Crockett, 64
Ronald G. Crockett, 64, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of the New Castle, Del. area, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 27, 2008. He served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He worked with John J. Crockett & Sons Subcontracting Company for many years and most recently he worked for the State of Delaware as a trade mechanic at the Stockley Center in Georgetown. He was a member of American Legion Post #28 of Oak Orchard. He enjoyed fishing, boating and being with his friends.
Crockett was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie (McHenry) Crockett. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Geraldine “Geri” Crockett; two sons, Scott Crockett and his wife, Lisa, of Mulbury, Mass., and Ronald Crockett of New York; a daughter, Joyce Ely and her husband, Bryan, of Glen Mills, Pa.; a brother, John J. Crockett and his wife, Helen, of Key West, Fla.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Julia Penna of Wilmington, Del.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was scheduled for Thursday, May 1, 2008, with interment in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
Pearl Mae Davis, 92
Pearl Mae Davis, 92, of Hartly, Del., passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Del. A homemaker, she loved to cook, loved Emeril Lagasse recipes, loved to laugh and dance. She was a very happy person who will be greatly missed. She lived for her grandkids and had the cleanest house ever kept.
Davis was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Martha E. Jackson Thompson; a daughter, Delphine Davis; and several siblings. She is survived by a son, Alonzo F. Davis of Hartly; a daughter, Marguerette H. Gardner of Hartly; a son-in-law, Tyrone Gardner of Clayton, Del.; two step-daughters, Betty Coleman of Hartly and Carol Lee Hall of Florida; a brother, Howdy Thompson of Millsboro, Del.; a sister-in-law, Bertha Thompson of Millsboro; her two dearest friends, Margaret Henson and Phoebe Martin; four grandchildren, Dwayne Davis and his wife, Sharon, Darlene Cunningham and her husband, Val, Neville Coleman, and Patrick Britt and his wife, Nicole; four great-grandchildren, Shawn Jack and his wife, Becky, Chenitra Jack, Valentino Cunningham, and Kirsten Davis; three great-great-grandchildren, Davonte Adams, Savanna Jack and Darius Jack; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Katherine Rolph Ebner, 86
Katherine Rolph Ebner, 86, of Ocean View, formerly of the Washington, D.C., area, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, at Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. She had been an elementary school teacher.
Ebner was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel J. and Mabel Jehle Rolph; and her husband, Roland A. Ebner. She is survived by three sons, Dean R. Ebner of Laytonsville, Md., Timothy R. Ebner of Mt. Airy, Md. and Keith R. Ebner of Greer, S.C.; a daughter, Judy Rolph Ebner of Madrid, Spain; a brother, Samuel J. Rolph of Sykesville, Md.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Ellwood Frey, 78
Ellwood Frey, 78, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of the Washington, D.C., area, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Renaissance Health Care Center, Long Neck, Del. He was a member for 54 years of the Carpenters/Joiners Union Local 132 in Washington, D.C.
Frey was preceded in death by his parents, Capt. Harlan Frey and Adelaide Murray Frey. His mother passed away when he was 2 years old, and he was raised by his father and a very caring, loving step-mother, Pearl Fennell Frey. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Leonard; his sister, Gertrude Goodhue of Md.; his nephews, Keith Goodhue of Annapolis, Md. and Robert Frey of Chicago, Ill.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eileen Dowey Frey; a daughter, Donna Eytchison and her husband, Vernon, of Laurel, Md.; two sons, Steven and his wife, Teri, of Oviedo, Fla., and David and his wife, Marvella, of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Carrie and Lauren Eytchison of Laurel, Md., Rebecca Paugh and her husband, Shawn, of York, Pa., Steven Frey II and his wife, Maria, of Charlotte, N.C., Andrew Frey of Orland, Fla., Cody Wright of Richmond, Va., Aidan and Liliana Frey of Phoenix, Ariz.; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road in Millsboro, where friends may call after 10 a.m.
Marsha L. Hale, 63
Marsha L. Hale, 63, of Lewes, Del., formerly of Wilmington, Del., passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at her sister’s home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the medical records supervisor at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington, retiring after 38 years of service. She enjoyed boating, fishing, reading, watching sci-fi movies and loved to shop. She was an animal lover, humanitarian and a very loving and giving friend. She was an avid collector of angels.
Hale was preceded in death by her parents, Orville T. and Ruth (Myers) Clark; and her husband, John Hale. She is survived by her sister, Christine King and her husband, Bruce, of Lewes; a nephew, Capt. Brian King of Cape Hatteras, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Pamela Stein of Wilmington, Del.; and a brother-in-law, Don Hale and his wife, Carol, also of Wilmington.

John Anthony Knaggs, 82
John Anthony Knaggs, 82, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Bladensburg, Md., passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008, at his home.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Del. Andre Lavanceau, 71, of Ocean City, Md., formerly of Dayton, Md., passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at his home. He had been an HVAC contractor and a pastry chef. He was a member of the Ocean City Parrothead Club.
Lavanceau was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Jeanne Casou Lavanceau; and a daughter, Susanne C. Peery. He is survived by his wife, Patricia IlcZuk-Lavanceau; a son, Andre D. Lavanceau of Roxana, Del.; a daughter, Colette M. Pountnay and her husband, Tom, of Laurel, Md.; four grandchildren, Ryan Peery, Lauren Pountnay, John Pountnay and Tommy Pountnay; son-in-law, Steve Peery of Columbia, Md.; father and mother-in-law, Alex and Barbara Ilczuk of Salisbury, Md.; two brothers-in-law, Michael Ilczuk and his wife, Tracy, of Hebron, Md., and Mark Ilczuk of Salisbury, Md.; two nephews and a niece, Zachary, Brandon and Christi Ilczuk; special friend, Carolee Humphreys of Ocean City; and faithful companion, O.C.

Gerasimos D. “Jerry” “Papou” Moutzalias, 93, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Silver Spring, Md., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Del. He was a retired restaurant operator and a longtime member of the parish council at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean City, Md. He was family-oriented and loved being around his friends and family. He also enjoyed cooking and fishing.

Nathan R. ‘Dick’ Perry Jr., 76
Nathan R. “Dick” Perry Jr., 76, of Ocean City, Md., formerly of Silver Spring, Md., passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. He was an electrical engineer and project head for Vitro Laboratories in Silver Spring, where he had worked for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Ocean City Elks Lodge and the Ocean Pines Golf Club. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed bowling and spending time on the water. He was an army veteran of the Korean War.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan R. Perry Sr. and Elizabeth Cullen Perry. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Laura M. Perry; two sons, Nathan R. Perry III of Lake Ranch, Fla., and James D. Harrison of Palm City, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Connor and Cameron Perry.

Donald Lee ‘Duck’ Robinson, 56
Donald Lee “Duck” Robinson, 56, of Georgetown, Del., passed away Monday, April 28, 2008, at home. He was a retired equipment operator. He attended Bethesda United Methodist Church in Georgetown. A devoted husband and father, his grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed racing, NASCAR and local stock car tracks. He enjoyed traveling, especially his trips to Florida.
Robinson was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Gladys Bunting Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Teresa R. Robinson; a son, Donald Robinson Jr. and his wife, Carrie, of Georgetown; a daughter, Lori Williams, also of Georgetown; his brothers, Mark Robinson of Georgetown, C.R. Robinson and his wife, Kim, of Georgetown, Ronnie Robinson and his wife, Denise, of Georgetown, George Ross Robinson and his wife, Jean, of Clarksville, Del.; sisters, Carol Evans of Georgetown, Olive Karr and her husband, Eddie, of Georgetown, and Connie Pettyjohn of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Mark, Luke and Ryder; an aunt, Irene Gray; special friends, Sinath Sam and Ricky Breasure; his beloved canine friend, Brownie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

William Emory Vickers, 75
William Emory Vickers, 75, of Frankford, Del., passed away after a long illness on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at the Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation Health Center, Millsboro, Del. He worked in delivery for the Pep-Up Oil Company for more than 29 years. He was an active member for many years of the Dagsboro Church of God, Dagsboro, Del., and he really enjoyed the fellowship within the church. He loved to play his guitar and sing in the church choir, and he loved his garden in the summertime.
Vickers was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Lena Mae Timmons Vickers; and his wife of 36 years, Ernestine Kirby Vickers. He is survived by his brother, Donaway “Dee” Vickers and his wife, Bessie Anne, of Frankford; one nephew, William Dee Vickers and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Miranda and David; one niece, Deanna Mae Price and her husband, Darrin, and their children, Ryan and Madison.

Edward G. Tuckmantel, 76
Edward G. Tuckmantel, 76, of Selbyville, Del., formerly of Newark, Del., passed away Monday, April 21, 2008, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Del. He was a supervisor of the Graphic Design Group at DuPont Co., Louviers Site, retiring after 41 years with the company. He had attended the Philadelphia College of Art. He was a member and past president of Swann Estates Homeowners Association. He enjoyed fishing and wood-working and in prior years he enjoyed hunting and bowling. He was a United States Marine veteran of the Korean War.
Tuckmantel was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Maria Strassman Tuckmantel. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Billie Jean Derrickson Tuckmantel; a son, Glenn E. Tuckmantel and his wife Amanda of Newark, Del.; a daughter, Dawn J. Simmons and her husband Daniel of Conway, S.C.; a sister, Helga Foulke of Wilmington, Del.; and three grandchildren, Zackery Tuckmantel, Austin Simmons and Keri Simmons.

Claudine Estella Nagle Price, 80
Claudine Estella Nagle Price, 80, of Ocean View, Del., passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She had worked in secretarial positions over the years and also operated a craft store with her daughter in Westminster, Md. She was very active in two chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution, having held several offices, some on the state level, in the William Winchester Chapter of the DAR of Carroll County, Md., and was most recently a member of the Colonel David Hall Chapter of Lewes, Del.
A very active member of the Ocean View Presbyterian Church, she held several church offices in recent years. She was also a member of the AARP and the Southeastern Sussex County Democratic Club.
Price was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Otterbein and Elizabeth Ridgely Nagle; her husband of 52 years, Gordon Brent Price Sr.; brothers, Claude Otterbein Nagle Jr. and Joseph Dudley Nagle; and sisters, Ellen Virginia Houck and Elizabeth Ridgely Bell. She is survived by a son, Gordon Brent Price Jr. and his wife Shirley of Ocean View; a daughter, Kathleen Montgomery and her companion Gene Taylor of Great Cacapon, West Va.; two sisters, Mary Haines and her husband, Carroll, and Beverly Franklin; two brothers-in-law, Lester Houck and William G. Bell; four grandchildren, Michele McCoy, C. Lee Montgomery and his wife, Cristy, Melissa Dittman and her husband, Matt, and Kristi Spencer and her husband, Neil; seven great-grandchildren, Connor, Devin and Harrison McCoy, Brent and Elizabeth Dittman, and Amanda and Brandon Montgomery; six nephews; four nieces; 26 great-nieces and nephews; and 25 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Edward A. Paris, 79
Edward A. Paris, 79, of North Carolina, formerly of Millville, Del., passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Indian Trail, N.C. He was a devoted husband and father, always offering a helping hand, whether as Little League coach, scout leader or stage hand for numerous dance recitals and plays. He was an accomplished musician and was skilled in various types of mechanical repair. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and retired as a mechanical inspector for the city of Baltimore. He also served as governor for the Essex Moose Lodge.
Paris was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bertha Paris; his wife of 52 years, Clara Mae Paris; and his son, Michael Paris. He is survived by a daughter, Michelle Sigler of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Michael Paris Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., Christopher Paris of Baltimore, Md., Jesse and Veronica Sigler of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Ramon Paris of Baltimore; a sister, Bernice Ellenberger of Millers, Md.; and many other beloved family members and friends.
The family said they would like to thank all of the nurses, caregivers, staff and friends at Lake Park and Sunrise of South Charlotte for all of their love and support.

Clarence V. ‘Vince’ McCabe II, 46
Clarence V. “Vince” McCabe II, 46, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Frankford, Del. He was a self-employed owner/operator truck driver for many years. He loved surf-fishing and driving his truck. A loving father, his kids always brought him a smile. He was also a loving brother and a good-hearted person, though people that knew him knew that he was “stuck in his ways.”
McCabe was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Vincent and Sue Ella Long. He is survived by two sons, Clarence Vincent McCabe III and Eben James McCabe, both of Statesville, N.C.; one brother, William McCabe and his companion Michelle of Laurel, Del.; one sister, Malinda Ray Moore and her husband, Joseph A. Jr., of Millsboro, Del.; three nephews, Joseph A. Moore IV, William M.L. McCabe and Dylan McCabe; and one great-nephew, Joseph A. Moore V.

Brian K. Hudson, 47
Brian K. Hudson, 47, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation and Health Center in Millsboro, Del. He was born in Baltimore and graduated from Lochraven High School. He was a self-employed plumber.
Hudson is survived by his wife, (Michelle Rogers) Hudson; son, Thomas R. Hudson, step-son, Nathan Bodkins; daughters, Brianna Hudson and Brooke Rogers; brothers, Thomas Hudson and Martin Hudson; and a sister, Louise Williams.
Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2008, with interment in Mariner’s Bethel Cemetery at a later date.
