Bethany discusses history
The Bethany Historical and Cultural Committee met Monday, April 11, to discuss how best to preserve the history of the beach town. Resident Jane Vincenti recently expressed an interest in having her house on First Street registered as a historic home, to preserve a bit of the past under the pressure of the expansion of new homes.

Every motorist knows that the most important street sign is a stop sign. It assigns right of way, reduces accidents at intersections and is used as a speed control device. Do you know how many stop signs are in the town limits of Bethany Beach? The number is 244, with 99 on the east side of Route 1, and the remaining on the west side. Some of you may think that this is way too many, considering that we are only talking about 3 square miles of land ... with 244 stop signs!

South Bethany doesn’t have the largest commercial district around, but what the town lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality.

Every month, the Millsboro Art League hosts a painting workshop that is open to both its members and community participants. With its large open room, high ceiling and tall windows that fill the room with natural light, the League’s old building at 203 Main Street in Millsboro provides a perfect location for beginners and experienced artists alike to let their creative juices flow.

Baseball team grinds out win
What small ball couldn’t accomplish against Seaford on Thursday, April 7 worked just fine when the Indian River varsity baseball team traveled to rival Sussex Central on Tuesday, April 12. They defeated the Knights for the first time in five years, 4-1.
Lady Indians continue to roll
The Indian River varsity girl’s soccer team is off to a hot start, tying No. 4 Caesar Rodney, 1-1, last week and shutting out Milford, 3-0, on April 12. With exception of the game versus Caesar Rodney, the Lady Indians haven’t yielded a goal this season. Three shutouts in four games isn’t a bad way to start.
Indian River splits for the week
The Indian River varsity softball team went one for two in the last week, defeating Seaford 7-4 on April 7 but losing a hard-fought game to rival Sussex Central, 3-1, on April 12.
Lady Indians fall short
One week after defeating St. Thomas More, 4-1, the Indian River varsity girls’ tennis team had the script flipped, as Caesar Rodney easily defeated the Indians, 4-1, on April 8.
Boys fall to Caesar Rodney
Caesar Rodney isn’t ranked No. 2 in the state for nothing, and the Indian River varsity boys’ tennis team found out just how good they really are in play April 13.
Warhawks battle toward playoffs
The Sussex County Warhawks hurdled an obstacle by defeating the Wilmington Raiders 9-0 on April 9, continuing their convoluted playoff push.
